What is re-start?

Restart can be defined as a take up or begin anew, to start something again. to begin or start something again after it has stopped for a period of time: or to resume (something, such as an activity) after interruption.

Restart can be used as a verb or a noun. For example:

They will restart the race - verb.

This is the restart of the race - noun.

God will restart us - verb.

This is our restart by God - noun.

There are a number of ways one can correct the glitches on an operating system that one is working on. For example, one can shut down the system and start it again, or one can just use the restart option method. Both may fix the issue. But restarting the system will give a better result.

A system restart safely closes all running programs, clears temporary data from the device's active memory (Random Access Memory - RAM), and completely reloads the operating system from scratch. This process effectively fixes performance slowdowns, fixes stuck background processes, and also repairs minor software glitches.

The operating system gets a fresh start, and hardware components reset to a stable state. It also triggers updates. Many security patches and software upgrades only finish installing when the machine restarts. Without this, the system may be missing critical protections or running on outdated code.

In summary, restarting an operating system does three major things:

- It clears the memory. It dumps all temporary files from the RAM, which eliminates residual bugs and frees up memory for better performance.

- It stops background hiccups. It kills frozen apps and malfunctioning background processes.

- It applies updates. Operating systems (like Windows, macOS, and iOS) require a full restart to properly implement system updates and install new drivers.

God is the Creator of all things. He made the heavens and the earth. He created all that are within them. When God finished the creation of the earth, He gave His appraisal for what He had done. He declared them very good.

Genesis 1:31 NLT: “Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good! And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day.”

Satan tempted man to disobey God. The fall of man brought evil into the good state of the earth, to the intent that God had to keep His eyes over His works, in order to re-start any aspect of it, if and when necessary.

Proverbs 15:3 NLT: “The Lord is watching everywhere, keeping his eye on both the evil and the good.”

God is in the business of restating things He has done before. Not that He didn’t do them well in the first instance, but because the actions of man under the influence of evil spirits, have kept disorganising what God had done nicely before.

Therefore, God can restart just anything. For example:

1. God can restart a life or destiny. He did that for Jabez.

1 Chronicles 4:9-10 NLT: “There was a man named Jabez who was more honorable than any of his brothers. His mother named him Jabez because his birth had been so painful. He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request.”

2. God can restart a family. He did that for Naomi

Ruth 4:13, 16-17 NLT: “So Boaz took Ruth into his home, and she became his wife. When he slept with her, the Lord enabled her to become pregnant, and she gave birth to a son. Naomi took the baby and cuddled him to her breast. And she cared for him as if he were her own. The neighbor women said, “Now at last Naomi has a son again!” And they named him Obed. He became the father of Jesse and the grandfather of David.”

3. God can restart a church or a fellowship. He did that for the Early Church.

Acts of the Apostles 4:29-31 NLT: “And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word. Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.”

4. God can restart a city. He did that for Jericho.

2 Kings 2:19-22 NLT: “One day the leaders of the town of Jericho visited Elisha. “We have a problem, my Lord,” they told him. “This town is located in pleasant surroundings, as you can see. But the water is bad, and the land is unproductive.” Elisha said, “Bring me a new bowl with salt in it.” So they brought it to him. Then he went out to the spring that supplied the town with water and threw the salt into it. And he said, “This is what the Lord says: I have purified this water. It will no longer cause death or infertility.” And the water has remained pure ever since, just as Elisha said.”

5. God can restart a nation. He did it for the nation of Southern Israel.

Ezra 1:5-8 NLT: “Then God stirred the hearts of the priests and Levites and the leaders of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin to go to Jerusalem to rebuild the Temple of the Lord. And all their neighbors assisted by giving them articles of silver and gold, supplies for the journey, and livestock. They gave them many valuable gifts in addition to all the voluntary offerings. King Cyrus himself brought out the articles that King Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the Lord’s Temple in Jerusalem and had placed in the temple of his own gods. Cyrus directed Mithredath, the treasurer of Persia, to count these items and present them to Sheshbazzar, the leader of the exiles returning to Judah.”

6. God can restart the whole world. He has done it before. Only Noah’s family and chosen animals were spared.

Genesis 7:23 NLT: “God wiped out every living thing on the earth—people, livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and the birds of the sky. All were destroyed. The only people who survived were Noah and those with him in the boat.”

God has impressed it upon my spirit that He has scheduled us for a new restart in this season. The Lord wants to restart our lives and destinies. The Lord wants to reboot the ‘operating systems’ of our lives and our Assembly.

The Lord will remove every error from our lives and in our midst. He will flush out any ‘virus’ infection attacking any of our system. The Lord will correct every ‘glitch’ that we seldom suffer now and again. He will help our lives and our Assembly to run well and smoothly.

Whatever is giving us ‘hiccups’, will be sorted by God. The Lord will reload our destinies again from the scratch. The Lord will fix our performance slowdowns. He will fix any background process issues that we are currently dealing with.

The Lord will grant us a fresh start. He will effect the most recent updates and upgrades for our lives and our Assembly. He will re-enforce the ‘security software’ around our lives and our Assembly. He will reinstall any critical ‘software’ of our lives that are currently inactive or are corrupted. He will make us like brand new again.

The ‘engine’ of our lives will be restarted to run smoothly according to God’s plan. The ‘wheels’ of our Assembly will also be reprogrammed to rotate fine by the power of God. May all these be our portion in this month and beyond in Jesus mighty name.
