Grace is one of attributes of God. It can be defined as His benevolence towards humanity, bestowed freely and without regard to merit, and which manifests in the giving of blessings and granting of salvation.
It is often described as a gift that cannot be earned through good works. It represents Divine influence acting within individuals for strength, healing, and salvation. Grace is receiving unconditional goodness rather than the judgment one may deserve.
It is God’s unmerited favour, love, and kindness bestowed upon the undeserving mankind, primarily manifested through salvation in Jesus Christ. It is a free gift, not earned by works, granting forgiveness and strength to the believer.
Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
While God is merciful, and graciousness emanates from Him, there are however different dimensions of grace(s) that man can obtain from God. This is because God is the Originator and Giver of all grace.
II Corinthians 9:8 NKJV
“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”
The bible teaches us about the Common or Generic Grace of God. This is the grace that God extends to all humanity, whether saved or unsaved. It is a grace that everyone enjoys regardless of whether they have accepted God as their Father through Jesus Christ or not.
Matthew 5:44-45 NKJV
“But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”
The bible teaches us about the Saving Grace of God, which is available to save mankind from sin and condemnation. This is the entry level of grace made available to all believers by God.
Romans 3:23-24 NKJV
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,”
The bible also teaches us about the Sufficient Grace from God. This is the kind of grace that can see a believer through any difficulty, challenge or situation. It is that grace which is adequate to solve any need or overcome any problem in one’s life.
II Corinthians 12:9 NKJV
“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
The bible also talks about Grace upon Grace. This is a higher dimension of God’s grace, which relates to a continuous increasing levels of a particular grace, or the addition of other kinds of grace. This is an overflowing and inexhaustible supply of God’s grace made available to a believer.
John 1:16 NLT
“From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another.”
The bible also talks about Exceeding Grace. This is a dimension of God’s grace that goes beyond or that surpasses any limitation or curtailment. It is a grace that helps one to stretch themselves beyond the ordinary, such that they can achieve what many can not attempt.
II Corinthians 9:14-15 NKJV
“And by their prayer for you, who long for you because of the exceeding grace of God in you. Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!”
The bible also talks of Great Grace. This is a great dimension of God’s grace that can make a believer achieve great feats and unbelievable results. It helps to accomplish great deeds and wonderful works.
It was the kind of grace that God gave to the early disciples of Jesus Christ, to which they were able to do unimaginable deeds in their dispensation.
Acts 4:33 NKJV
“And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.”
The Lord has laid it in my heart that He will make His great grace available to us in this season and henceforth. This special grace will distinguish us from most believers in a spectacular way.
He will enable us to do unimaginable things. He will assist us to accomplish unbelievable deeds.
Great works shall be performed through us by His grace. By the great grace dimension of God, we will be unstoppable and untouchable.
God will guarantee our continuous existence and unending victory. The powers of men and those of evil spirits confronting us will continue to bow to us. Those who have planned to silence us shall be dismayed and discomfited.
This great grace of God will help us to forge ahead unhindered.
It will usher us into a new level of boldness, courage and fulfilment, such as we have never experienced before. May the Almighty God bring these to pass in our lives and in our midst in Jesus mighty name.
