October 2026 Theme: Our Season of Experiencing ‘Fearful Blessings’ from God

Fearful can be defined as being frightened or worried about something. When something is said to be fearful, it means that it is causing or likely to cause fear, fright, or alarm. Other words for fearful are scary, terrifying, petrifying, shocking, startling, frightful, fearsome, etc.
There is however an interesting aspect of fear, it has to do with being full of awe or reverence, especially about the nature of God or His acts. It has to do with the frightening and terrifying nature and the deeds of God.
In the bible, fearful has two very different meanings depending on the context. It can be viewed as lacking courage or faith in God, which the bible condemns.
2 Timothy 1:7 KJV: “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
The bible actually has over 365 admonitions for believers not to be this fearful, as this can jeopardise one’s eternal salvation.
Revelation 21:8 KJV: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
The bible also views fearful as the standing in profound reverence or awe of God's holiness, glory and power. As well as His wonderful deeds to His creation, especially His children. To which the Bible encourages the believer to acknowledge and to cherish.
Exodus 15:11 KJV: “Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, Fearful in praises, doing wonders?”
Proverbs 9:10 KJV: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: And the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”
When God appeared to the children of Israel at Mount Sinai, it was a frightening sight for them. No one was able to move close to the mountain, except Moses and Joshua.
Exodus 19:16 KJV: “And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.”
Over 500 years later, when God appeared to Prophet Elijah at the same mountain (Sinai/Horeb), it was equally a frightening sight for him.
1 Kings 19:11-13 KJV: “And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: and after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?”
The greatest factor needed to walk with God is the obedience to His word. This factor is influenced by two other critical factors, which are: the love for Him, and the reverential fear for Him.
John 14:15 KJV: “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
Luke 10:27 KJV: “And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.”
Hebrews 12:28-29 KJV: “Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: for our God is a consuming fire.”
God is fearful! He does fearful things. He also gives fearful gifts and blessings to His children. There are certain magnitude of blessings that emanate from God, that can make mankind become really frightened.
The principal intention of God granting such blessings is to generate His awesomeness in the hearts of men when they experience such or witness such in the lives of human like themselves. This was the prayer of King David.
Psalm 67:7 KJV: “God shall bless us; And all the ends of the earth shall fear him.”
The bible makes us to know that Isaac was a recipient of fearful blessings from God. There was a famine in the land of Canaan, which could have been induced by God to elevate Isaac’s profile in the land. Isaac wanted to migrate to Egypt for survival, God however instructed him to stay where he was.
Isaac planted his seeds against the odds in that year. Miraculously, God blessed him with a hundred fold increase, to the extent that the the citizens of Gerar had to buy food from him, and later became his servants for lack of money.
In little time, Isaac became exceedingly wealthy and powerful, to the extent that the King of Gerar and all his subjects became afraid of Isaac because of his fearful blessings.
Genesis 26:12-16 NLT: “When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the Lord blessed him. He became a very rich man, and his wealth continued to grow. He acquired so many flocks of sheep and goats, herds of cattle, and servants that the Philistines became jealous of him. So the Philistines filled up all of Isaac’s wells with dirt. These were the wells that had been dug by the servants of his father, Abraham. Finally, Abimelech ordered Isaac to leave the country. “Go somewhere else,” he said, “for you have become too powerful for us.””
God has impressed it upon my spirit that He has earmarked us for ‘fearful blessings’ in this season. The Lord, by His grace and power will make us to prosper strangely. He will make our ‘seeds’ to grow abundantly.
He will help us to harvest more than hundred times of what we planted.
The Lord will make us to become ‘very rich’. He will make our wealth to continue to grow. He will bless us with various possessions that will induce envy from our neighbours.
While the Lord’s blessings upon us may provoke resentment against us, God will ensure our supremacy and victory. The blessings of God upon us will make us become too powerful to be handled flimsily or to be treated anyhow.
The unusual blessings of the Lord upon us will make the ends of the earth to fear Him. Men will give praises to God and honour Him for our special gifts. They will use their mouth to confess that we are too powerful for their match. Such people will run frantically behind us and yet not catch up with us.
Every enemy of our lives will offer themselves up to us for service. God will make us to continue to wax strong until we become exceedingly great. No human or spiritual power will be able to curtail our increase. The miraculous power of God will transform us into a baffling entity to our world. May all these and many other ‘fearful blessings’ be our portion in Jesus mighty name.
