Astonishing can be defined as extremely surprising, impressive, or amazing. It can also be a feeling of great surprise or wonder, very surprising, difficult to believe, so surprisingly impressive as to stun or overwhelm, or surprising greatly.
Other words for astonishing are: amazing, striking, surprising, brilliant, stunning, impressive, overwhelming, staggering, startling, sensational, bewildering, breathtaking, astounding, eye-opening, wondrous, jaw-dropping, stupefying, etc.
Results can be defined as good outcomes, success, good or pleasing effect, successful achievement, etc.
Results are very crucial to human endeavours. Achieving results is highly significant across various human sectors—particularly education, business, and personal development—as they act as measurable indicators of success, they provide information for future strategies, and they open doors to future opportunities.
It is intriguing to note that God is also interested in the concept of results. Jehovah is result oriented, even though He marks His script by Himself. God uses results to assess the work of His own hands, and He uses it to judge the deeds of men either for commendation or condemnation.
At the end of each day of creation, God would step back and assess what He had done, and on the sixth day, He conducted a cumulative assessment of the whole creation process and gave His overall determination.
Genesis 1:31 NLT
“Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good! And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day.”
God is very interested in the results shown by the deeds of men. These results inform Him of what to do with every man, as they lived, and at the end of age.
Revelation 22:11-12 NLT
“Let the one who is doing harm continue to do harm; let the one who is vile continue to be vile; let the one who is righteous continue to live righteously; let the one who is holy continue to be holy.” “Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds.”
Therefore, having good results are not just crucial for men, they are critical to human existence and development here on earth. They are also instrumental to where they spend their eternity.
While good results are what is desirable and advisable, there are different levels or few kinds of good results that are available to men on this side of life.
In the parable of the sower in Mt. 13:1-23, Jesus indicated that three good results or outcomes can be obtained from any ‘good soil cultivated’.
Matthew 13:8 NLT
“Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”
In Gen. 26:1-14, in obedience to the instructions of God, instead of migrating to Egypt, because of a prevailing famine in Canaan, Isaac remained in Gerar. In that same year, what he planted yielded a high level of output - a hundred fold returns.
Genesis 26:12 NLT
“When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the Lord blessed him.”
In Mk. 10: 17-31, when Apostle Peter asked Jesus what would be the results of their sacrifice of following Him, since they had left all what matters to them behind. Jesus promised them astonishing results here on earth and a glorious outcome in the life to come.
Mark 10:29-30 NLT
““Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life.”
The promise of God for us in this season is that we will experience astonishing results and striking outcomes.
God will soften the ‘ground on which we till’ on our behalf.
The Lord will make our ‘grounds’ to be more arable and fertile.
He will make our ‘crops’ to grow very well.
He will grant us surprising harvests henceforth.
He will not allow us to be disappointed this year.
He will make our ‘yields’ or ‘outputs’ this year to be staggering.
He said the sacrifices we have made will not be in vain.
Our labour of love for Him and the subsistence efforts for ourselves will be rewarded overwhelmingly.
He will bless us with amazing returns on our ‘investments’.
He will turn us into enviable entities in His hands.
God also promised to guarantee our earthly and eternal rewards. May all these be our portion in this month and beyond in Jesus mighty name.
